updates from a small point of view

So as the weeks go on Noah is growing more and more, it's so insane, he will be six months in a week and a half. I can't believe that time has gone so quickly. As for the milestones, he has maybe rolled over once, he is NOT a fan of his belly, he is eating baby food now- his favourite, squash, extremely sturdy and strong he can almost sit and stand on his own, once he can sit I'm positive standing won't come long after. The way things are going I think he may skip crawling all together and just walk, but we shall see. His favourite toy currently is a slinky- fascinated. Screaming the sound that comes out of this bundle of joy, I assume he loves to hear his voice. I think that's all for now, we shall see if anything changes in 2 weeks! well hope everyone had a happy weekend :)

Milestones: First bite

Every step in a babies life is important, and in the world of Olivia it's even more important. Lately it seems like Noah was not happy with anything that he was eating, he was throwing up everything he consumed- most of it ends up on my brand new couches. So I decided to do a little research and I came across a baby's feeding pattern, it gave a list of signs that show a baby is ready to try real food- Noah displaying all signs I decided to go out an buy a jar. I learned some valuable information from my dearest friend, only buy 1 type of baby food for now (make sure it says "starter" on the jar, and test it for 3 days, in that time frame it will display any dislikes or allergic reactions. So my little bird has his first sweet potato yesterday pureed of course. conclusions: LOVED IT!

The milestones in a child's life are so important to capture, I've learned to always have a camera near by...

Happy Monday Everyone :)

some silver lining

After all the trauma my poor baby has gone through, we brought him to the hospital for his checkup yesterday, and all in all he is doing much better. I don't know if I mentioned before, they put him on an inhaler, which has helped and enormous amount, and also he's on steroid medication to clean his airways, the doctor said he will start feeling better in a few days (which is is definitely getting there) and it should clear up in a week, but unfortunately his cough will linger on for some time afterwards.

As for his hernia, I am going to call his surgeon and see if he can be on a cancellation list, as it is much more serious now that the episodes are coming on more severe and often.

So Noah will always remain in my prayers- you can never have enough, and we will just have to wait this out- lots of sleepless nights.

updates from a mommy's point of view

Going on my second week, without Phil- just me and Noah. I do get some help when mom comes home from work, and if I need to quickly do something dad or my sisters are willing to watch him for a bit. But through the long nights and afternoons I'm on my own. Noah likes to get up every 3 hours on the dot, it takes him an hour to drink his bottle, then he needs a half hour of tummy time before he will sleep again. I must admit I thought being a mommy would be a lot easier and just full of smiles and lullaby's, no one tells you how horrible it is when they get sick- checking on them every 5 minutes even though you have a baby monitor, or only getting 3 hours of sleep every night, and in the afternoon when baby sleeps you have to use that time to make bottles, clean, do laundry- it's so much work! Definitely a full time job- I see now why people get nanny's. I wish Phil was here, I miss him so much and Noah has grown so much in the past two weeks. He keeps me calm and helps me out so much, I can tell he loves Noah unconditionally and would do anything for him- but 3 more days and daddy will be home then we get to see him for 2 weeks!

Noah had his first checkup today, he ways 7lbs 12 ounces! and is 20.7 inches! My boy is definitely growing fast, and the formula is getting more and more expensive, but it's all worth it when those big blue eyes look into mine, my heart literally melts every time! He's going to be a little heart breaker <3 Tomorrow he will be exactly 3 weeks old- almost a month I can't believe it.

Anyways just thought I would touch base with you all :) hopefully talk tomorrow! Goodnight!

sad day.

So I took Noah to his appointment today, it turns out he has a inguinal hernia, which is what I thought in the first place. If it gets bad enough, or if he has another bad spell where we can't calm him down he will need to have surgery. This just devastates me. All I can do is monitor him carefully, they say it's suppose to heal itself, but if it doesn't by the time he's two years old he will have to have surgery anyways. What a stressful past couple of weeks. Well I will continue to pray for him endlessly, I love this little guy and I'm going to do whatever I can to protect him.

My worst scare.

Yesterday I can honestly say, was the worst day of my life. I am only sharing this story with you because it may help if you are ever in a similar situation. We had to rush my poor baby Noah to emergency yesterday. It was late afternoon and suddenly he started screaming uncontrollably, I've never heard him scream like that before, Noah isn't one to really cry- unless he's being changed, he mostly wines if he wants something, I knew something was wrong. He wouldn't eat, I try cuddling him, rocking him in my arms, then mom said to check his diaper, his testicles turned purple and we rock hard, I had no idea what was wrong with my little peanut. I couldn't even look at him without crying- knowing that something was so wrong with him and there was absolutely nothing I could do to help him. I called the ambulance, they couldn't do anything right away so they took him to the hospital. By the time we got there he calmed down and he was no longer swollen or in pain. They did an ultrasound and found nothing, I'm not really sure if that was a good thing or not, I think a thousand prayers went out to my little peanut that day. We have to go back o the hospital tomorrow to have him checked over, now I'm just monitoring him.

If you are ever in a situation like this the best thing you can do is be there for you child, comfort them the best you can, seek advice from family and friends, and if all else fails seek medical help from a doctor. Yesterday broke my heart, I can't go 10 minutes without checking on Noah to make sure he's OK, it's really hard without Phil here, I can't wait 2 weeks because he comes home, and we get to go back up with him for a few weeks. I'm just thankful my parents and grandparents were here to help. I know this isn't the most cheerful blogpost, but I wanted to share my story if it could help anyone else in any way.

talk to you tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I must apologize from the lack of blogging, but as you may have guessed, yes the baby has arrived! And what did we name our little bundle of joy you ask? Noah Michael Joseph. He weighed 7lbs and was 20.5 inches long. All together the labour was fine, the epidural was heavenly- and will never do it without! No complications, just a beautiful baby boy. He was born December 21st at 9:26 pm. Right during Criminal Minds (which was playing in my delivery room might I add).

We had a wonderful Christmas we got to see all the family and friends (believe me when I say there is ALOT of people we had to visit) I'm glad we can now just relax, Phil had to go home yesterday unfortunately, but hopefully he will be back in 2 weeks, and me and Noah will go up with him to visit.

It's crazy raising a baby, and very scary. You have a life in your hands that your responsible for, and I think thats the biggest responsibility anyone can have.

I hope you all had wonderful holidays. Here's some pictures of our little boy.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope your holiday's were as special as mine <3

Baby Bump Pictures

So today was the day to get the pictures done. I must say it was a little awkward, I mean I love taking pictures, but usually I'm in control of the shoot, I\m never the model. They turned out pretty good, he was definitely a good photographer, I suppose I just didn't realize how much weight I've gained since I've been avoiding full length mirrors and cameras for a while. But we still got some cute shots, which I will share :)

So we do have a few cute shots :) I'm so thankful that Phil's good friend did them for us, I think the pictures turned out gorgeous <3

37 weeks!

37 weeks, which means baby is officially grown. I can pop any day now so I have to be ready. I have my hospital bag packed- and baby's too! My room is de-cluttered and scrubbed (finally) baby's clothes are washed, bassinet and change tablet are set up, the only thing that really needs to be done is my room tidied up from all the Christmas shopping I've been doing. Definitely want to get that out of the way before baby comes, I think I'm pretty much done, there may be just a few things I need to pick up and I am waiting for an online order to come through this week, but that's all! This is the first time I've finished shopping before the Christmas decor is even up. We started today though- once finished of course I will give you a tour!

So baby is the size of a watermelon, and man can I feel him! I'm never comfortable anymore, I have insane heartburn all day and night, if I lay on one side for too long it feels like my hips are being crushed when I try to move (OUCH!) I'm really hoping he comes early, or at least on my due date, I want him here for Christmas. Christmas eve and Christmas day are so special in my family, and tradition we've had since I was born- so I'm so excited this year to share is with my new addition, my extra special bundle of joy!

On another note, I'm so excited because Phil might actually be here for Christmas- which the past month we were thinking he may have to work! It's still not 100% for sure, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Also, I may get to move even sooner that though- perhaps January 1st! I probably won't move in that early but I will be there a lot getting the place ready and the baby's room setup which I am so thankful, I was really beginning to wonder if the baby would ever be able to sleep in his crib- there's definitely no room at my house. I can finally get started with MY family, the thing I will cherish most in the world <3

It's almost December, are you excited for Christmas?

week adventures

Baby Bump pictures Phil says. Well, at first all I could think about was I've gained so much weight regular pictures of me aren't even cute. But perhaps with a professional photographer maybe these will look OK. Nothing in the "nude" - nobody wants to see stretch marks, thankfully I have none on my tummy, but unfortunately the rest of my body wasn't so lucky. Here's some amateur shots that was taken at a Woodstock party a few months back.

On another note, this week should be an entertaining one, sadly Melissa and James are going back to Montreal next week so we have planned our last few events :( Twilight Saga tomorrow! yay! then we have baking, shopping, and movie nights <3 very excited. I'm going to miss that lady.

Well happy Tuesday :)

Getting ready

This week has been exhausting, get everything cleaned and setup for the baby- I'm almost done! Phil and I got so many beautiful gifts from the shower, it's taken me all week to go through everything, I really wish we had a place of our own everything is cluttered to a tiny corner of my room for now, and out computer room is jammed packed with everything else. I will be 36 weeks on Saturday, getting close! I really hope he either comes early, or right on time- don't want to be in the hospital on Christmas!

Here is just some snaps I took with Instagram of the cute things I've accumulated and are set up in the baby's (aka.MY) room.

So those are just a few cute things I've picked up along this long journey...

have a goodnight everyone.

The "tiny" things in life

Sorry for the drought of posts, but this weekend was so busy! Phil came down Friday, my friend Punam threw me a going away from work party on Saturday, and Sunday was baby shower day! I thought I would share some moments from the shower with you...

Prize table!
Sugar cookies me and mom spent hours making!
Dessert table, with my beautiful cake that my Aunt and Gramma made!
All the gifts! There were so many!
The beautiful picture mom got framed for the baby's room! (and punch)
 MY lovely guests...

There were so man cameras, I'm not really sure where the rest of my pictures went, so hopefully when everyone posts them I can show you more! I do not look very flattering in most of these pictures, oh well.

I have a busy week still ahead of me, and an OB appointment today. Well Happy Tuesday everyone! Have a good week :)

Nursery dreaming

Just dreaming of a perfect nursery, while de-cluttering my room. I was in desperate need of some inspiration, even though I can't decorate a nursery for a few months, there's no harm in looking for ideas! All items here we taken from Pintrest by these fabulous people which can be found below. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

34 weeks...6 more to go!

So time is getting close, although I still have 6 more weeks to get to the 40, the baby is officially developed at 37 weeks and can come any time after that! So if you think, only 3 more weeks until the baby is ready! So crazy soon. Time has flew by, but I must say I am excited for him to come out, still not entirely sure of what to expect so I'm not really scared yet, I just can't wait to hold the little peanut in my arms! I am so happy he will be born around Christmas time. It's my most favourite and precious time of the year, and to have his first moments be around this time is so amazingly awesome!

I hope what I have shared with you along this journey so far has maybe helped you. 2 weeks ago, I though OK this is it I've gone through everything, I've felt all the different movements, I think I'm ready- but literally week to week it's like something new happens. Right now he is getting so big that I can feel every little movement and there strong- sometimes painful (depending on what he's doing) and sometimes uncomfortable. He's active everyday- but on some days more rambunctious than others. Like yesterday for example! Holy cow! that boy moved so much, it does feel like I have a mini ninja inside me sometimes. According to the books he is about 20 inches, and weighing 5 pounds! I can definitely feel him growing everyday, and fast too!
During these last months, I would suggest when going to your OB appointments, get a little notebook and jot down ANY questions you may have, because if you don't when you get in there you will forget them. My appointments are every 2 weeks now, and shortly they will be every week when we get down to the last  couple weeks.

How am I feeling these weeks? Well. I wish I could tell you I feel amazing, and look amazing with my pregnancy glow- but the truth it I feel sick most of the time, I'm always in pain because his feet get entwined with my ribs, I have an inevitable amount of pain in my spine at this point I'm ready to send him an eviction notice- but he still needs a few more weeks to develop, so I won't rush him that much!

Well anyways, that's just an update with me and the baby, thought it was about time I'd share my last weeks experience. :)

31 weeks...9 to go

I can't believe I only have 9 weeks left... CRAZYNESS. He's getting so big now, I used to feel hard kicks, now I put my hand on my belly and I can feel his entire body move. this past week his movement has gotten more powerful, I can tell he's getting bigger. Currently, he's approx. 17 inches, and almost 4 pounds! It says now he's going to be growing 1/2 a pound every week!

My OB appointments are now every other week- and soon to be every week. My back pain is getting worse slowly creeping up my back now, and there are tiny feet that have been getting tangled in my ribs. So getting very painful, and sitting on a chair at work for 8 hours doesn't help. But anyways, nothing I can do about that.

On a side note, I would like to share with you my pregnancy resources through the months.

The book called "What to expect when you're expecting." Melissa bought me this book. It's great because it walks you through week by week, and all the symptoms and questions about pregnancy month by month. This book is always with me, it has kept me very informed.

Websites I signed up for:

"The Bump" This website is great, you can create you own profile, which can be linked to your registry, a pregnancy blog, you can upload any photos. There are tons of message boards from moms across the world with any questions or concerns you might have. But my favourite thing about this website, it it has a pregnancy checklist, everything you have to do each month, you can go in and update it everyday- believe me there are so many things we need to get ready for!

"BabyCenter" This website sent me an email every week with an update on my pregnancy, it provides a 3D calendar of what your baby will look like week to week. it also has tons of links to websites you can sign up for (free things ladies!) AND helps out with name picking :)

There are so many websites out there, they are all great, but these too have followed me during my pregnancy. Also "google" is a life saver, any questions or concerns, google it!

Well there are just some helpful resources I'd thought I would share! Have a good weekend everyone :)

Etsy Inspires

SO lately I've been thinking about decor ideas, for the new home, and especially the baby's room. Phil probably thinks I'm crazy. But I've never been on my own before, and I've never taken care of anything that was completely my responsibility before, so needless to say I'm overly excited.

On the days (and believe me- there are a lot) when my brain is starving for some insight at work, boredom kicks in and I need something to inspire me to keep my spirits high online shopping comes into play. Thankfully, reading my daily blog reads afterwards gave me some great ideas for some DIY projects- rather than spending a fortune on things I don't need. So here's what I came up with.

This idea came from Etsy naturally, while I was obsessing over some safari name blocks, I though to my self... hello! I can make this! AND it would be all the more special. Should be a fun project, now just have to find the time....

Aren't they cute?

Next, which I have been planning on doing this since I found out about my little one, sewing a quilt- of course with the help from my loyal sewing guru- Mandi. Since the theme of his room I safari I was thinking of doing something with giraffes in green and orange, and maybe personalizing it with his name. I think that would be just darling <3

So these are my future DIY projects. What has inspired you lately?

oh and, Asos.com still to come! - *tomorrow
